Collectives and Community

I find seeing people being (physically and metaphorically) moved by sound one of the most beautiful things in the world! Since I started putting on events around a year ago I knew that there was something incredibly special about bringing people together with music but it’s only since starting this course that I am beginning to understand why. Culture and society in terms of a sound event. Community and sound: Shared sonic experiences give people a sense of community – music genres and sonic environment give people a sense of belonging when they hear their favourite track in a room with 300 people, there’s this feeling when the sound system is so loud it feels like you can’t hear your own thoughts. Is this what religion feels like to people who don’t love EDM?

The physical feeling of a real sound system when your whole body is under a bass blanket and even though there are hundreds of people around you it is okay it’s just u and the tunes against the world. I want to research why this happens and hopefully make a sound piece inspired by this.

To research:
