This work is comprised of a sensor triggering the playback of a sound file of an Armadillo security device, a stereo soundscape based on an arms factory hosting Armadillo security devices, and a landline telephone playing back questions on surveillance.
Technical information for installation:
- 3x Speakers
- 3x Stands
- XLR to mini jack cable
- XLR to mini jack stereo cable
- 2x Raspberry Pi
- 1x Bela Board
- 1x Telephone
To develop the work further, I will be focusing on the sonic content of the telephone. The questions presented on the telephone will become answers through the method of interviews; these questions will be asked (not included in the final sound file), and the replies will be played through the telephone. I hope that this brings an interesting perspective on surveillance to the work that can be presented in poetic form.
I also will be presenting the work with more consideration to visual aesthetics. I did not have access to a suitable that I could present the work in progress in, but I will be exhibiting the work numerous times in element two including in the work in progress show. More details on the development of this project are in a previous post.
